Can you convert a Macphobe
How to convert a PC user to a Mac user – I’ve never used a Mac before and always been a PC lover… I think this might be the hardest task Apple have had to date.
Day 1
Where is the hash key? Don’t give me 6 key command combination’s to do simple tasks that should be a button on a keyboard… why is external access to internal systems called something completely random? I feel like I’m playing a game of Hide and Seek and the Mac is really good at the hiding part – I suck at seeking!!
I would also like to point out that my feelings for the Mac seem to be reciprocated as I have already managed to repel my Mac after less than 24 hours of owning it. The whole of the docking icons crashed (which apparently is a very rare event) so, given my current feelings about my shiny white nemesis, I feel this has been my biggest Mac achievement to date!
My lovely senior designer for Wren does keep assuring me this anger feeling will soon pass and will flourish into love….well they do say that strong hate is usually a precursor to love – maybe this will end up being the greatest romantic story of them all. Current signs are not encouraging mind… I confess I have my PC on as well for comfort surfing, bit like a child carrying around a blankie!
More to come tomorrow!

Kate, how you managed to crash a Mac is beyond me lol. I have to say though, I think it’s the easiest OS I’ve used to date. I first used one a couple of years ago and got to grips with it almost instantly and have since helped set up a Mac suite for an FE college. I think you’ll get there eventually, it’s probably just the little things you may need to get used to (I.e, the hash key thing).
I think the only thing I struggled with once was the optical drive of an iMac. I put some discs in and couldn’t work out how to eject them, I thought it was eating my discs until after about 30 minutes I realised there was an eject button on the keyboard haha.
I don’t own a Mac but I have been thinking of buying a Mac Mini or something. I wouldn’t mind a Macbook but the price tag always puts me off when you compare it to a PC… Hmm..
