Also this week, the Taiwanese computer maker Acer have announced that they have seen a surge in their profits. Acer have announced a 57% rise in net profits to 3.6bn Taiwanese dollars ($113m; £70m) during the April to June quarter from a year earlier. It is thought that the success of its smart phones have contributed to the growth of Acer laptops over the past 12 months.
And finally, talking about increases in Profits and Sales, during the last quarter, Apple have sold 1 million desktops (iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro and Xserve), accounting for revenues of $1.3bn, and 2.47 million notebooks (MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro), bringing in $3.1bn (The Register) indicating that Mac sales have in fact tripled in the past 5 years.
And that’s all for this week.
