To help get your creative juices flowing (though we’re sure you already have a pretty clear idea of what your ultimate rig would be!) here’s an example of what we’re looking for:
Example: Ultimate PC Gaming Rig… The Batcave
Firstly, the fastest desktop processor known to man, backed up by a mighty 24 gig of the fastest ram available. A trio of GTX 580 3072MB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI PCI-E Graphics Cards, for the perfect SLI setup, 3 terabytes of super speed Solid State Hard disk goodness, to store every Batman game since the ZX Spectrum, all backed up by a 1200 watt modular PSU. Mmm… modular.
Then, because the Batcave is a big place, the ultimate monitor setup – three 70″ 1080p monitors, to make those pixelated bad-guys as lifesize and realistic as possible. And because the acoustics in the cave are unrivalled in any superhero hideout (Cave of Solitude, Cave of Schmolitude) – a top spec soundcard and a 5.1 surround setup. And an external 12 terabytes of storage for all those Beiber MP3s.
With easy access to a good water supply, in the form of an actual river running through his pad, the Dark Knight has gone with a watercooling setup – fed straight from the giant in house waterfall. A twin radiator setup, with a mighty 12 fans (in push/pull configuration, naturally) keeps that water nice and chilly, so as not to disturb the local eco-system. A further 7 fans on the case make this a noisy beast, but when you’re in the zone as much as the bat – you won’t even notice.

Our Judges:
Richard Sweeting, PC Gamer & Managing Editor at Gamersathome
“I’ve been playing and building PCs for 21 years, and i’m only 27 so almost all my life. In addition, I have worked alongside the world’s biggest games companies and hardware companies, which always improves my knowledge on the PC world. Also having some friends who are the best in the world at certain PC games and have their own pro brand of PC hardware out, they always inspire to build better and play greater. For me the thing that makes the best PC is not only the graphical power and the CPU power but also the cooling system and PSU that you use, as you don’t want your machine cutting out half way through your journey in Skyrim or a kill streak in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.”
Phill Cameron, PC Gamer and Freelance Journalist, writing for Eurogamer, Gamasutra, PC Gamer, Videogamer.com and others. See here for our interview with Phill last year about Edinburgh Interactive.
“As consoles come and go, the role of the PC is staying pretty consistent. It’s always going to be at the top of the graphical game, and it’s always going to be providing services that the consoles are going to struggle to keep up with. I’ve been using my PC for games for as long as I can remember, but the thing that I’ve found, in the past few years, is that the need to be at the bleeding edge is diminishing. Having a powerful system is always going to be a boon, but more and more utility is the name of the game, with the breadth of things your PC can do becoming more important than how well you can do them. So it’s not just about how many pixels you can get on the screen, and how much AA you can blast them with, but also how many screens you can get that up on, and how you can interact with those selfsame pixels.”

Well Ive been into computers since I bought my first pc with saved up pocket money, paper round and I sold my Hornby trainset to buy a Sinclair ZX81. I paid £49 plus £2.95 P&P. My newest one is a duel core 1.8GHz, with a Nvidia 1GB graphics card, 2 320GB IDE HDD’s, a Lightscribe DVD and a 15″ monitor running Windows Vista ( Just abouts ). I still have 2 Commodore C64′s with everything up in the loft, (working as well). Would love to enter the competition to win but Im so far behind with whats the best these days. Good luck to all that enter though. Wayne

Can I enter the above Example PC except with 6*4GB Sticks of DDR3 instead of 6 * 4GB Kits as I always struggle to squeeze 12 sticks in to 6 DIMM slots?
Oh, and an extra Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm 3000rpm Case Fan just for good measure.

I have always been into online gaming, and over the years have built various gaming PC’s
This one is the best so far (for me at least)
Games played are Crysis 1 and 2, Medal of Honour, Call of duty 1-4 Battlefield 1 and 2, Far cry 1 and 2.This is buy far the fastest and the best computer i have ever built, and i have to say the most expensive,
It would appear to be so powerful that i am able to run
and play Call of duty 4 while adobe CS5 is rendering in the background with no fall over at all, (although i didn’t realise CS5 was running until i finished playing COD4.
I have run ATI G/cards in the past but have always felt more comfortable with Nvidia Cards, and to maybe have the opportunity to run the GTX 580 in duel mode appeals to me,as it would everyone else i suspect…lol

2X Samsung 2TB Drives raid 1 as Backup
28″HANNS-G Monitor connected with HDMI to GTX 580
I am waiting delivery of an OCZ Hybrid drive and a 64 gig USB flash drive to see if the flash drive is faster at transfer rates than the 2 10’000rpm Raptor’s (as they are used only for the swapfile)
Good luck everyone

Hi guys! Here’s my entry, wishing everyone good luck. http://minifiguremayhem.com/?p=431

The ultimate rig hmmm:
Case: No thanks, I want everything visibleMotherboard: Intel blue one please
Processor: Intel one, but not one of those mobile ones, a fancy one with a nice name like sandybridge, reminds me of a beach, that’s sandy, ahh roll on the summer.
Graphics Card: nVidia PNY 6200 512MB with VGA and DVI outputs – Psss don’t tell my girly, but the lady on the card is pretty (hence the no case reason.
Ram: I’m not sure I can fit one in the garden, ahh that RAM yes please.
p.s I would probably like to add, a DVD drive, SssssSpeeeeedDrive (SSD), I would probably look a bit silly having a computer without them, however I have the nVidia lady so that will keep the visitors busy.

If I had the money.
This is my dream machine with the latest cpu and motherboard and the best gpu all watercooled with lot of ram nothing could slow it down. 3gb of SSD memory to hold all the games i have and not have to uninstall any of them. It would have 4 bluray drive so i could install a game while watching a bluray movie of 3 27″ 3d moniters with a 5.1 surround system. I would play games like Skyrim, Black Ops, Warhammer, Batman Arkham City all at max spec.* Silverstone Temjin Full Monster Tower Gaming Case

This is buy far the fastest and the best computer i have ever built, and i have to say the most expensive,
It would appear to be so powerful that i am able to run
and play Call of duty 4 while adobe CS5 is rendering in the background with no fall over at all, (although i didn’t realise CS5 was running until i finished playing COD4.
I have run ATI G/cards in the past but have always felt more comfortable with Nvidia Cards, and to maybe have the opportunity to run the GTX 580 in duel mode appeals to me,as it would everyone else i suspect…lol

28″HANNS-G Monitor connected with HDMI to GTX 580
I am waiting delivery of an OCZ Hybrid drive and a 64 gig USB flash drive to see if the flash drive is faster at transfer rates than the 2 10’000rpm Raptor’s (as they are used only for the swapfile)God only know’s where i’m going to put it should i get another GTX 580 though
